Hadar Jewish Classical Academy will open in Fall 2025 with classes Pre-K to Grade 4.
The first elementary school of its kind, Hadar is committed to academic excellence, Torah Judaism, and Hebrew fluency. Our pedagogy embraces the classical tradition, individualized and rigorous learning, and language immersion. We aim to give students a deep appreciation of their Jewish heritage and a strong grasp of the great ideas of Western civilization. By using a Jewish classical approach, our teachers aspire to endow our students with a moral foundation, a love of Yiddishkeit, and a commitment to academic rigour. We prepare all our students to lead lives of purpose and civic leadership, and enjoy a life-long connection to their Jewish identity and Israel.
Originally from the UK, Dr. Liliana Worth Govrin is the founding head of school at Hadar Jewish Classical Academy. Her excitement about realising a Jewish Classical education is grounded in a strong commitment to Judaism and a life-long appreciation of the classical tradition.
Dr. Worth is a graduate of the University of Oxford where she completed three degrees: she received a BA in Classics and French, an MSt in Medieval Studies and a DPhil in English Literature, for which she specialized in medieval narrative poetry and histories. She then completed a Horstmann Prize Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Münster, Germany. Her subsequent work in education took her to Asia for six years, where she specialised in teaching comparative classics and languages, and later studied for a MA in Jewish Education from the London School of Jewish Studies. A specialist in comparative literature, Liliana is fluent in six modern languages and can read three classical ones. Her translations of French and Mandarin titles have been published in the UK and China.
Inspired by the Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch model of the Jewish gymnasium, Dr. Worth is driven to pass on a real knowledge and reverence for Jewish tradition to students, while setting the highest academic standards in their secular subjects. She believes in helping young children to develop their moral character and meet their intellectual curiosity through a Jewish Classical education, with the belief that they are both capable and eager to learn much more than often thought possible. She is honored to be helping to realise this unique vision in Austin, Texas.
